Helen Luletta Stevenson, daughter of Ole and Olida (Lindberg) Stevenson, was born January 15, 1924 in Urness Township in Douglas County, Minnesota. Helen grew up in the Kensington, MN area, and graduated from Kensington High School in 1941. Following her schooling, she worked at Max's Bakery. On April 10, 1944, she was united in marriage to Howard Kloos. The couple made their home near Donnelly, where they began farming. Along with raising their own family, Helen & Howard began serving as foster parents, eventually welcoming 31 children into their home. In 1963, Helen & Howard sold the farm and moved into Morris. She then worked at the Villa of St. Francis for a short time before starting a daycare in her home. Howard passed away on January 14, 1981, and Helen continued to live and work at their home in Morris. When she retired, Helen had spent 56 ½ years as a foster parent and/or daycare provider, and she said she cherished the time she spent with each and every child. At the time of her death, she was a resident of the Hoffman Good Samaritan Center.

She was a member of Kongsvinger Lutheran Church in Donnelly, MN, where she served as Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. She was also a member of the Lucky 13 Homemakers and the Morris American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed word search puzzles and watching TV, especially the Minnesota Twins.

Helen died on Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 87 years.
