Helen Rieckman

March 5, 1908 — October 6, 2006

Helen Rieckman, daughter of August and Lillian (Willard) Thomas was born on March 5, 1908 in Webster City, Iowa. She came to Stevens County at the age of four with her family from Iowa, where they farmed. The family took up residence north of Morris in Morris Township. Helen attended School District # 4. She was Baptized and Confirmed as a young adult in the Lutheran Faith. Helen was united in marriage on June 18, 1927 at the Lutheran Free Church in Morris to Richard Rieckman. Helen was employed by various business over the years, among them were Ryhn's Dry Cleaners and the Del Monica CafAC.. Richard passed away in October in 1964. After retirement, Helen volunteered at the Morris Clothing Bank for many years. For several years she resided at Sky View Court in Morris and in December 2003 she moved into Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead. Helen was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Her favorite pastimes were putting puzzles together, playing bingo and watching television.



Helen died on Friday, October 6, 2006 at Merit Care in Fargo, ND, having lived to reach the age of 98 years.



She is survived by her sons: Paul Rieckman of Willmar and Walter (Marlys) Rieckman of Moorhead; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren: Keith and Christine Rieckman, Ryan and Brandon of Willmar, Sandra and David Stahl and Kyle of Inver Grove Heights; Karen and James Warmack, Kathleen, James and Julie of E. Grand Forks; Michael and Kathy Rieckman, Matthew and Samantha of Moorhead; Christine and Bruce Stengel, Lisa and Andrew of Clarkfield; Charlene and Gerald Dahl of Merrifield; Timothy and Sue Jacobson, and Melissa of Gaylord and Bonnie and Bryon Hahn and Kyle of Gaylord. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Richard; infant son: Edward Arthur; daughter: Marie (Mrs. Chester Jacobson); sisters: Esther, Ethel, Alice and Ellen and brothers: Raymond, Elmer, Francis and Edward.



Pallbearers for the service are grandchildren: Keith Rieckman, Sandra Stahl, Karen Warmack, Michael Rieckman, Christine Stengel, Charlene Dahl, Timothy Jacobson, and Bonnie Hahn. Rita Lampert will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home of Morris is in charge of arrangements
