Funeral services for Helen Stettner of Morris, MN will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church near Morris. The Apostolic Christian Ministers will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Helen Hanna Stettner, daughter of Lewis and Christine (Spohr) Stettner, was born March 30, 1916 in Morris, Minnesota. She grew up in Horton Township in Stevens County, Minnesota, where she attended country school. As a young lady, two local doctors offered to pay for her pursuit in a nursing career, but she declined so she could devote her life to taking care of her ailing parents and siblings on the family farm near Morris. In 2006, she moved to West Wind Village in Morris, where she continued to live until the time of her death.
Helen was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church near Morris. She enjoyed her rural life which included her garden, love for cooking and her dogs. She loved to visit, pick a subject and she would visit for hours. She was most proud of her heritage and reminisced often about the great community get-togethers at the farm during harvest season. She also liked keeping up on current events.
Helen died on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 97 years.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Louis, Edwin, John and Carl and three sisters: Mary, Minnie and Kathryn.
