Herb Kill, son of William and Josephine (Majerus) Kill, was born December 10, 1917 in Morris Township of Stevens County. He grew up on a farm four miles northwest of Morris, and attended both St Marya(TM)s school in Morris and District 23 country school. Herb was baptized and confirmed at Assumption Church in Morris. Herb died in peace at his home reaching the age of 93 years. He was surrounded by his family which was important to him.
Herb was the third oldest in a family of four boys and four girls. Herb worked with his father and brothers on the family farm until he married Irene Sperr on November 18, 1941, they enjoyed 69 years of marriage. Herb & Irene settled on a farm less then two miles from his home place, and raised grain and livestock. They were blessed with four children.
Herb dedicated his whole life to making things grow, first and foremost was his family. He continued to farm his entire life; he ran the stalk chopper and grain truck through the fall of 2010.
A farmer who depends directly on rain, sunshine and climate, must be a person of faith. He has faith in the Creator every time he plants a seed. He believes that God will bless his efforts, and all his efforts are based on that faith.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Irene (Sperr) Kill; four children: Lois E Leavitt (Jim Williams) of Blaine, Ed (Colleen) Kill of Monticello, Wally (Diane) Kill of Morris, Cindy (Paul) Wannarka of Bemidji; 10 grandchildren: Adam Leavitt, Dustin (Lisa) Leavitt, Erik Leavitt, Stacie (Tony) Paetznick, Katie (CJ) Hunter, Brandon (Charissa) Kill, Tara (Kurtis) Pool, Matthew Kill, Weston Wannarka, Courtney Wannarka; 11 great grandchildren, and his sister Betty Pollard of Cyrus. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Leonard, George and Bill and three sisters: Katherine Cook, Eileen Kill and Irene Jost.
