Funeral services for Ida Lawson of Meridian, Idaho, formerly of Morris will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Reverend Jim Albert will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Ida Lawson passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, February 13, 2013 at her residence at Spring Creek Assisted Living in Meridian, Idaho. She lived to reach the age of 95 years.
Ida Marie Madison was born on January 12, 1918 to Henry and Anna Marie Madison in Wadena, MN. She attended rural school in Wadena County grades 1-8. She was one of five children raised on a family farm near Sebeka. Later the family moved north of Alberta. There she met Floyd Lawson and they were united in marriage at her parent's home on March 12, 1937. The couple moved to Wisconsin for two years then returned to Stevens County south of Alberta in 1939, where they purchased their farm. They made their home there until 2001, when they moved to a townhome in Morris. In 2011, Ida moved to Spring Creek Assisted Living Center in Meridian, Idaho to be near some of her children.
Ida was an active member of the Alberta Church of the Nazarene. She was a hardworking farmwife, mother of eight children, who had a large garden every summer with vegetables and lots of flowers. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, sewing, painting, crafting, reading and playing card games.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, in 2006; two infant children; one son Ronald; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Travis Early; three brothers, Ed, Art and Elmer Madison and one sister, Irene Gulbrandson.
She is survived by seven children: Duane (Cindy) Lawson of Stigler, OK, Eleanor (Carl) Greenway of Bluffton, SC, Jeanette Lawson of Meridian, ID, Gary (Linda) Lawson of Nampa ID, Judy (Dave) Wood of Costa Mesa, CA, Roger (Becky) Lawson of Golden, CO, Douglas (Joy) Lawson of Golden, CO; daughter-in-law, Judith Lawson of Golden CO; 19 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Courage Cottage in Morris or First Choice Home & Health Care Hospice, 2563 S. Five Mile Rd., Boise, ID 83709.
