Ida Ernestine Gades, daughter of Frederich A. and Ernestine Martha (Fels) Gades, was born October 30, 1907 at the family home in Tara Township, Swift County, Minnesota. She grew up in Tara Township, where she worked on the family farm and received her education at a German Parochial School near their home. On March 20, 1921, she was confirmed into the Lutheran Faith in Tara Township. On August 4, 1928, she was united in marriage to Henry August Marquart in Fairfield Township by Reverend H.C. Jaus. Following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in rural Hancock, Minnesota. Along with raising a family and helping on the family farm, Ida was also a life-long, active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfield Township, where she was involved in the Dorcas Guild and served as a Sunday School teacher. Henry died on December 17, 1986, after which, Ida continued to live on the farm. In 1991, she moved to the West Central Homes in Morris, where she resided for the next 10 years. In 2001, she entered the West Wind Village in Morris, where she continued to live until the time of her death.
Along with her activities at the church, Ida was also active in the Tara Homemakers Club, and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and attending bible studies.
Ida died on Friday, June 16, 2006 at the West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 98 years.
She is survived by two sons: Byron (Elvera) Marquart of Appleton and Gary (Rusty) Marquart of Hancock; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters: Marion Pugh and Ada Mae Mesenbrink; her parents; four sisters and eight brothers.
Pallbearers for the service are Ida's Grandchildren: Danny Mesenbrink, Carol Peters, Judy Johnson, Dori Bechtle, Ardith Ampe, Jill Augustine, Jon Marquart, Cory Marquart and Kirby Marquart. Joann Schliep will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
