Ilah Mae LaSage, daughter of Arthur and Hazel (White) LeSage, was born December 9, 1910 in
Scott
Township
in Stevens County, Minnesota. She attended school and graduated from
Alberta
High School
where she played basketball. On November 9, 1935, she was united in marriage to Leo Grote. To this union one daughter was born. Ilah worked as an egg handler at Benson Produce and later began working in the kitchen at the
Stevens
County
Memorial
Hospital
. The couple started farming in
Framnas
Township
and later moved to
Darnen
Township
. In 1961, they moved to Morris. Leo died in January of 1977. Ilah has continued to live in Morris since that time.
She was a member of
Federated
Church
in Morris, where she belonged to the ladies aide. She enjoyed babysitting, going out for coffee with her friends and spending time with her family.
Ilah died on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at
West
Wind
Village
in
Morris
,
MN
, having lived to reach the age of 99 years.
She is survived by one daughter: Charlene (Elroy) Meyer of Lewis Center, OH; two grandchildren: Jason (Gwen) Meyer of
Clintonville
,
OH
and
Chad
(Tara) Meyer of Galena, OH; three great-grandchildren: Colin, Elise and Addison Meyer; one brother: Arthur LeSage of
Duluth
; special niece: Gloria (Chet) Larson of Donnelly and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and one sister: Gladys Satter.
Pallbearers for the service are: Jason Meyer, Chad Meyer, Chuck Larson, Chet Larson, Jane Hausia, Cindy Casselton and Jack Satter. Cheryl Rempel will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
