Inga Marie Sandvig, daughter of Ole and Anna Raaum Sandvig, was born October 21, 1908 near Cyrus. She was confirmed on October 5, 1924 at Nora North Evangelical Lutheran Church near Cyrus. She attended Country School through the 6th grade. When Inga was old enough she went to work helping others doing housework and painting. On July 10, 1926, she was united in marriage to Martin Mithun. The couple lived in the Cyrus area, where they farmed and raised their five children. Martin died in the early 1980's and Inga moved to Starbuck in the late 1980's. In 1992 she moved to the Minnewaska Lutheran Home, where she has continued to live until the time of her death.
Inga was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus. She enjoyed sewing all of her kid's clothes when they were growing up and also quilting. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with family and friends.
Inga died on October 21, 2005, which was her 97th birthday. She died at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.
She is survived by two daughters: Donna (Delroy) Benson of Starbuck and Irene Eide of Fergus Falls; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and one sister: Gertrude Mithun of Morris. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons: Selmer and Edwin; one daughter: Mrytle; two brothers: Ed and Otto; four sisters: Cora, Edna, Ida and Olga and one great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers for the service are:Bob Benson, Jim Benson, Oren Eide, Matt Mithun, Jeff Mithun and Carter Mithun. Gorden Thompson will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
