Funeral services for Ione Eul of Morris, Minnesota will be held Monday, October 15, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Robert Kieffer will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:30 and a rosary to follow at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
Ione Ruby Peterson, daughter of Carl and Regina (Christianson) Peterson was born September 17, 1921 in Gilchrist Township in Pope County, Minnesota. She grew up south of Terrace, Minnesota, where she attended country school. Following her schooling, she taught in country schools in the Starbuck area, Willmar Public Schools and Morris Public Schools. On January 30, 1954, she was united in marriage to Richard Eul at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Ione quit teaching to raise her children and work with Rit at their hardware store, Eul's Hardware Hank. Rit died on March 30, 2003 and Ione has continued to live in Morris since that time.
Ione was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, the Morris American Legion Auxiliary and Students Club in Morris. She enjoyed singing, reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, watching Wheel of Fortune and camping. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ione died on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 91 years.
She is survived by her children: Mike (Guiliana) Eul of Mahtomedi, Tim Eul of Morris, Rob Eul of Morris, Kathy (Joe) Bouta of Benson, Tom Eul of Morris and Cindy (Mike) Moser of Morris; 12 grandchildren: Eric (Chelsea) Eul, Jeff (Jessica) Eul, Aaron Eul, Jillian Eul, Jennifer Eul, Leah Wente, Robert Bouta, Jennifer Bouta, Andrew Bouta, Nicholas Moser, David Moser and Lyndsie Windholz; one great-grandchild, Milo Eul and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and brothers: Phillip, Wendel and Elmo Peterson.
Ione's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers for the service. Darlene Hennen will serve as pianist for the service with Tom and Pearl Horning providing special music. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
