Irene Ellen Christensen Fuhrman was born in Swift County at the family farm on October 3, 1925 to Albert and Mabel (Ronglin) Christensen. She was baptized October 15, 1925. As an infant they moved to Big Stone County. She was confirmed by Reverend Allison at First Lutheran Church in Morris on May 28, 1939.
At the age of seven they moved to a farm five miles south of Morris and that was her home until she married. After marriage she lived in Morris the rest of her life.
Irene married Harold P. Fuhrman on November 25, 1944. She worked as a cashier in a local grocery store. In 1955 they purchased the Buick Car and Oliver Farm Machinery Business. They sold their business in 1994 after her husband’s health failed. Harold passed away January 10, 1998.
Irene loved to read, crochet, needle point, and all crafts, puzzles etc. She loved to travel and spend time with family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Dennis H. (Sandra) Fuhrman; granddaughter, Shelley A. (Kevin) Johnson; and one great-granddaughter, Shaylynn R. Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, and parents Albert and Mabel.
Her small family meant everything to her.
There will be a private graveside service at Summit Cemetery in Morris.
