Iver Wevley

August 12, 1915 — November 9, 2006

Iver Kornelius Wevley, son of Carl and Carolina (Amundson) Wevley, was born August 12, 1915 in Highlandville, Iowa, where he was baptized on September 12, 1915 at Big Canoe Church. At a young age, his family moved to Barnsville, Minnesota, where he attended country school and was also confirmed on September 13, 1930 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. On November 2, 1937, he was united in marriage to Adeline Pauling at the Lutheran Church in Barnesville. The couple remained in Barnesville, where they farmed and began raising their family. They later moved to the Morris area, where Iver worked at the West Central Experimental Station for 27 years. He retired in 1977.

Iver was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. He enjoyed fishing, keeping his lawn in shape, having fun and singing to his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends.

Iver died on Thursday, November 09, 2006 at West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 91 years.

He is survived by his wife: Adeline Wevley of Morris; five children: James (Pam) Wevley of St. Pete, FL, Betty Gulbrandson of Watertown, Carol (Larry) Anderson of Wendell, Donna Knabe of Morris and Steve (Sara) Wevley of Hoffman; daughter-in-law: Ina Dunham of Minneapolis; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters: Melvina Larson of Morris, Delbert Wevley of Kingman, KS, Darlene Wold of Springfield, OR, Ione Quam of Ashby, Knute Wevley of Apple Valley, Mary Pashe of Ashland, OR and Earl Wevley of Menahga and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son: Eugene Wevley; son-in-law: Ken Gulbrandson; grandson: Todd Gulbrandson; his parents; three sisters: Violet Miller, Gladys Hatestad and Gertrude Wevley; three brothers: Oren, Ray and Carl Wevley and one brother-in-law: Clarence Quam.

Pallbearers for the service are: Scott Bergherr, Vernon Wevley, Kevin Wevley, Tom Gulbrandson, Christopher Hacker and Dylan Wevley. Honorary pallbearers are all who called Iver friend. Chris Hopkins will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
