James Albert

Funeral services for Reverend James Albert of Alberta, Minnesota will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Alberta. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 at the Nazarene Church in Alberta and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be held at a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

James Ernest Albert, son of John and Grace (Lovass) Albert was born July 16, 1938 in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he grew up and began his schooling. At a young age, Jim began working with his dad. While growing up, he enjoyed being the oldest child and helping care for his younger siblings. He also enjoyed playing broomball and hockey any chance he got. On July 28, 1955, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving four years before his honorable discharge on July 15, 1959. Following his discharge, Jim worked several years at various jobs in towns around Minnesota. In 1980, he met and fell in love with Carolee Carr, who brought him to church with her at the Church of the Nazarene. On Father's Day, 1980, Jim dedicated his life to Christ. He and Carolee were married on August 8, 1980 at the Nazarene Church in Grand Rapids, Minnesota; through this union one daughter, Kathleen Grace was born in 1982. Jim was called into the ministry in 1982. In 1988, he began serving as a pastor at the Church of the Nazarene in Bemidji, Minnesota. He also did a great deal of work traveling and operating Youth Ministry Camps. In 1994, Jim moved his family to Alberta, Minnesota where he has served as the pastor of the Nazarene Church since that time. Jim was also able to minister to many others through his work driving for Medi-Van. He was always a true servant, willing to help anyone in need.

Jim died on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 74 years.

He is survived by his wife, Carolee Albert of Alberta; four children: John Mark Albert of Grand Rapids, Kathleen (Troy) Albert-Burge of Apple Valley, Donna (Jeff) Dahl of Chanhassen and Dianne (Donald) Heldman of Staples; 11 grandchildren: Hannah, Jack, Ella, Abraham, Madelyn, Taylor, Blake, Lauren, Bethany, Jessica (Ethan) Black and Nicole; one brother: John (Shelly) Albert of Inver Grove Heights; two sisters: Mary (Toby) Abrahamsen of Superior, AZ and Janice (Gordy) Johnson of Chisago City; one sister-in-law: Linda Albert of North St. Paul and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Roger Albert.

Pallbearers for the service are: John Mark Albert, Donald Heldman, Troy Burge, Richard Friesen, Arnold Vold and Nathan Tadlock. Honorary pallbearers are Jim's grandsons: Blake Dahl and Jack Albert and Jim's entire loving congregation.
