James Burton (Jim) Krogh, a long-time resident of the Hancock-Morris area, died January 19, 2008, at age 78.
Jim and Corrine resided in Hancock from 1965 to 1990. Jim managed the Hancock Co-op, a job he loved and excelled at. He enjoyed working with the co-op's employees, board members and patrons. Jim also proudly served many years on the Land O' Lakes board of directors. Upon retirement, Jim and Corrine moved to Morris.
Jim was born in Argyle, MN, on October 1, 1929, to Paul and Mildred (Ihle) Krogh. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Argyle. In high school, "Jimmie" dreamed of being an artist. He attended the University of Minnesota for a short while, but declared the transition from a small rural school to the big campus too hard. He later attended business school in Fargo. Jim served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Jim married Corrine Carlson of Stephen, MN, in 1951. They raised four children: Peggy Krogh of Duluth; Pam (Brad) Heil of rural Morris; James (Mary Anne) Krogh of St. Louis Park and Paula (Bruce) Mielke of Falcon Heights. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren include: Ann (Brian) Erdahl and children Kellen, Corrie and Charli of Grand Rapids; David (Danielle) and Emma Heil of Kalispell, MT; Megan and Ellen Krogh of St. Louis Park; and Luke and Isaac Mielke of Falcon Heights.
He also is survived by brother Jack (Doris) Krogh of Minneapolis; sister-in-law Earlene Krogh of Argyle; many nieces and nephews; and many of Corrine's family members. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Kenny, Vernon, Dean and Phyllis.
Jim's passions were playing games with Corrine as his partner, reading and listening to music.
Pallbearers for the service are: Ann (Heil) Erdahl, David Heil, Megan Krogh, Ellen Krogh, Luke Mielke and Isaac Mielke. Sue Erdahl-Nelson will serve as organist with Roger Blair serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
