Jeanette Elaine Rau, daughter of Ernest and Anna (Giese) Rau, was born April 14, 1936 in Appleton, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Holloway Lutheran Church in Holloway, Minnesota. Jan grew up with her parents and grandparents on the family farm near Holloway, MN, where she attended and graduated from Holloway High School in 1949. Following graduation she attended Willmar School of Practical Nursing in Willmar, MN, where she graduated as a licensed practical nurse on June 30, 1957. Jan moved down to the Minneapolis area for work after graduation, but later moved back to Morris after her father passed away. On March 20, 1959, she was united in marriage to Gerald Ehrp. The couple moved to Chokio, MN, where they started their family together. After their marriage Jan became a homemaker, where she cared for their children, did chores, ran errands, and kept the books for Gerald's business, Ehrp Construction. She traveled often whether it was on the weekends to the race tracks or on vacations with Gerald. Jan enjoyed being a part of a coffee group that got together every afternoon at each other's houses. Gerald died on July 26, 1985 and Jan remained in her home in Chokio until April, 2014, when she moved to Lakeview Good Samaritan Center.
Jan was a longtime active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio, where she taught bible school and Sunday school. She was a notary, a first responder, and also volunteered her time taking blood pressure for seniors. Jan enjoyed being a part of her bowling league, golfing, going to the lake cabin with her family to sun bathe and fish, baking and canning, and taking care of her garden.
Jan died on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Lakeview Good Samaritan Center in Glenwood, MN, having lived to reach the age of 78 years.
