Memorial services for Jennifer JoAnn Gruenwald of Henderson, Nevada will be held Friday, May 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck, MN. Reverend Paul Johnson will be officiating.
Jennifer (Jeni) JoAnn (Petersen) Gruenwald was born January 11, 1972, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Donald and Carolyn (Melheim) Petersen and was baptized April 9, 1972, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ormsby, Minnesota. She grew up in St. James, Minnesota, and moved with her family to Starbuck in 1984, graduating from Starbuck High School in 1990. She attended Staples Technical College and earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Media Broadcasting. While working at the Milbank, South Dakota Radio Station, Jeni met and married Lane Gruenwald of Milbank.
Jeni moved to Henderson, Nevada, in 1999 where she was united in marriage to Johnny Gumroyan November 26, 2000. Jeni was employed as a poker dealer in Las Vegas and was co-owner with her husband in a number of restaurants in the area. She loved spending time by the ocean, walks with her dog, Maggie, and most of all, time with her family and friends. A favorite and frequent get-a-way was to Laguna Beach, California. Jeni was adventurous, fun-loving, generous, thoughtful, easy-going, and very charismatic. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Jeni died April 22, in Jacksonville, Florida.
She is survived by her husband Johnny Gumroyan of Henderson, NV, daughter Jamie Biglow of New York, stepson Abe of San Francisco, CA, her father, Donald (Char) Petersen of Starbuck, sister Stephanie Petersen of Starbuck, brother Paul (Mary) Petersen of Brooklyn Center, MN, Sister Rebecca (Daniel) Froehlich of Mankato, MN, and brother Jonathan Petersen of Starbuck, nieces Ellee and Norah, nephew Jack, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jeni was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn (Melheim) Petersen.
Fellowship/Refreshments will be served at the Starbuck VFW following the services.
Jennifer died on April 22, 2011 in Jacksonville, Florida. She lived to reach the age of 39 years.
