Funeral services for Jerel Schmidgall of Morris, Minnesota, will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Faith Church, rural Hancock with the Apostolic Christian Faith Church Ministers officiating.  Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.  Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Faith Cemetery.

Jerel Richard Schmidgall, son of Wayne and Dorothy (Pfister) Schmidgall, was born November 12, 1950 in Morris, Minnesota.  He grew up and attended school in Morris graduating from Morris High School in 1968. He was baptized and became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church on September 22, 1968. Following his schooling, Jerel was drafted and served in the United States Army where he served in Vietnam.  Following his honorable discharge, Jerel returned to Morris.  He was united in marriage to Linda Leman on November 28, 1971 in Roanoke, Illinois.  The couple made their home in Morris where Jerel continued to work for the family business, Schmidgall Sand and Ready Mix and Superior Industries.  Jerel owned and operated Jerel’s Gun Repair, Evergreen Kennels and Jerel’s Welding.  Jerel continued to live in Morris until the time of his death.

Jerel loved raising and training dogs, gunsmithing, hunting and fishing. Most of all, Jerel cherished time spent with his family and friends.

Jerel passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, June 25, 2021 at West Wind Village in Morris.  He was 70 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Schmidgall of Morris; daughter: Shari (Rod) Olson of Morris; two grandchildren: Jeslyn and Rafe Olson; two brothers: Dennis (Ruby) Schmidgall of Morris and Neil (Linda) Schmidgall of Morris; one sister: Faye Schmidgall of Morris; brothers-in-law: Tom Leman of Denver, CO, Bruce (Marge) Leman of Roanoke, IL and Phil (Sandy) Leman of Elgin, IL and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents: Wayne and Dorothy Schmidgall; parents-in-law: Wilmer and Lavina Leman; three daughters: Debra, Connie and Marianne Schmidgall and sister-in-law: Marlene Leman.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
