The funeral for Jerome "Jerry" Brustuen, of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home, Morris. Celebrant for the service will be Father Robert Kieffer. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services on Monday. Burial will be at the Summit Cemetery, Morris. Military rites will be provided by the Morris American Legion, VFW and AmVets.
Jerome Emil Brustuen, son of Gilbert and Ora (Hanson) Brustuen was born on March 22, 1939 at Morris, Minnesota. He graduated from Clinton High School before attending Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. Jerry entered the United States Air Force in 1962, where he was stationed at the Island of Crete. He was honorably discharged in 1966, and returned to Clinton. Jerry was united in marriage to Jean Nosbusch on July 3, 1965 in Barry, Minnesota, through this union four children were born. The couple lived in Minneapolis and Jerry and his brother owned a gas station in Forest Lake. The couple moved to Morris, where Jerry owned and operated Kollings Machine Shop before becoming a dealer for Snap-On Tools and Matco. In the early 1990's, he moved to Cyrus where he owned and operated the Amoco Station. He also drove school bus for CMST and was part time postmaster in Cyrus, before moving back to Morris in 2007.
Jerry was an avid Minnesota sports fan; he enjoyed watching the Vikings, Twins and Timberwolves. He also enjoyed bowling and coaching baseball, and was an avid collector of many things.
Jerry died on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud. He lived to reach the age of 73 year old.
He is survived by three sons: Jason Brustuen of Morris, Jarod (Jennifer) Brustuen of Palmdale, CA and Jeremy (Kim) Brustuen of Rogers; one daughter: Julie (Mitch) Bruns of Morris; seven grandchildren; his mother: Ora Brustuen of Willmar; two brothers: Mick (Sandy) Brustuen of Granite Falls and Rick Brustuen of Cyrus; two sisters: Kathy (Alvin Jr.) Nohl of Willmar and Lori (Brent) Hunt of Monticello; sister-in-law: Gail Brustuen of Morris and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother: David Brustuen.
