Jim Gobernatz

June 12, 1944 — December 26, 2009

James Joseph Gobernatz, son of Anthony and Julia (Dirkes) Gobernatz, was born June 12, 1944 in Browerville , Minnesota . At a young age, Jim’s family moved to Morris , Minnesota , where he began his schooling at St. Mary’s Catholic School , completing his education at the Morris High School . On September 8, 1962, he was united in marriage to Barbara Greiner in Webster , South Dakota . On August 7, 1965, Jim and Barbara were married for a second time at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. The couple lived in various locations in central Minnesota , where Jim worked managing turkey farms. In 1997, they moved to Morris and Jim began working for Riverview Dairy, where he made many wonderful friends.

Jim’s favorite pastime was fishing. Every time a new grandchild was born, the first thing he wanted to buy them was a fishing pole. He enjoyed his cabin up north, where he spent many hours with family and friends. He also loved Christmas and would spend days decorating. If he didn’t have a tree in the front yard, he would buy and decorate Christmas trees to place in the yard. Jim was also a very good mechanic and enjoyed refurbishing old cars.

Jim was a loving and patient husband, father and grandfather. He was always more than willing to help anyone who asked him and offering his help to those who didn’t ask. His most enjoyable times were when his family was around him, especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all.

Jim died on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at his home in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 65 years.
