The funeral service for John Henry Greiner, of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hosanna Worship Center at Morris, with Reverend Tom Fangmeier officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 at the Pedersen Funeral Home, Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at the Summit Cemetery, Morris.
John Henry Greiner, son of Paul and Mary (Braun) Greiner was born on June 22, 1915 at Cooper, Iowa. In 1916, the family moved to Hancock, Minnesota, where John grew up and received his education. After his schooling, he started working on the family farm with his brothers, eventually farming with just his brother Levi. In the early 1960's, John moved to the Morris area, and continued to farm in the Hancock area. He retired in 1978 and continued to live in Morris. On February 14, 2004, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Pedersen. The couple made their home in Morris until entering the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota in February of 2012.
John died on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, having reached the age of 96.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette, Starbuck, MN and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, George, Paul, Reinhold, Levi and Carl; and four sisters, Bertha Wenger, Clara Erickson, Marie Greiner and Caroline Greiner.
