Joseph Altrich

The memorial service for Joseph Leon Altrich, of Donnelly, Minnesota will be held on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Celebrant for the Mass will be Father Todd Schneider. Visitation will be Monday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. Theresia's Cemetery, Donnelly.
Joseph Leon Altrich, son of Joseph George and Doloras (Stabler) Altrich was born on March 25, 1941 in Morris, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Theresia's Catholic Church in Donnelly. Joe attended grade school in Donnelly and high school in Morris graduating in 1960. After his schooling, Joe began working for the Donnelly Co-op as a butter maker. After the creamery closed, Joe moved over to the agronomy division of the Co-op. He retired in 2010 with 52 years of service. Joe was a member of the Donnelly Fire Department for many years; serving as fire chief for 22 of those years.
He was a member of St. Theresia's Catholic Church and later Assumption Catholic Church. He was a life member of the Donnelly Rod and Gun Club. Joe was an avid duck hunter and enjoyed taking trips to North Dakota goose hunting. He found the simple things in life were important; like taking drives around the country side and morning coffee with the boys.
Joe died on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Grace Home in Graceville, Minnesota. He was 74 years old.
He is survived by six brothers and sisters: Rose (William) Kell, Sartell, MN, Mary (Richard) Lane, Graceville, MN, Carol Hamen, Kensington, MN, Gerald (Frances) Altrich, Donnelly, MN, James (Marie) Altrich, Graceville, MN and Donald (Joyce) Altrich, Lake Crystal, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Richard Hamen.
