Julette Grace (Gilbertson) Jergenson was born January 18, 1924 to Julius and Grace Gilbertson. She was born at the farm house In Rendsville Township, near Donnelly, Minnesota. Julette was the oldest of 9 children, 6 girls and 3 boys. She attended a one room school, first through eighth grade. In 1943, she graduated from Morris High School. During her high school years, she worked at the Bugbee Drug Store, attending the soda fountain, making the best Cherry Cokes for crowds after athletic events.
She worked at J.C. Penney’s in Morris during WWII. In February 1946, Julette quit her job and married David Jergenson on March 10th. They lived in Donnelly until they purchased a farm north of Cyrus. She worked side by side with her husband fur ranching and raising their 5 children. Julette was a busy mom, and enjoyed gardening, sewing, and entertaining. She was known for her homemade wheat bread, and whole wheat donuts. She was active in various church and community functions.
In 1968, she went back to J.C. Penney’s and worked as manager of the Ready-to-Wear Department. She transitioned to giving home parties for the Queen’s Way to Fashion Company. She also volunteered at the Villa (West Wind Village) for 10 summers, and enjoyed her relationships with the residents.
In 1982, she and David moved from the farm to Cyrus, and began to enjoy their winters in Arizona.
She challenged herself by sewing her three daughters’ wedding dresses. After the children were grown, she started making quilts for all of her children, grandchildren, and great grands. She loved watching the expressions on the faces of her great grandkids as they opened their special gift.
