The funeral services for Kenneth Lester Cline, of Morris, Minnesota will be private. Burial will be at the Frog Lake Cemetery, near Alberta, Minnesota.
Kenneth Lester Cline, son of Glenn and Phoebe (Pitts) Cline was born on June 25, 1920 in Swift County, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended country school. He was united in marriage to Helen Reimers on January 31, 1942. The couple made their home in Morris, Minnesota. Ken entered the United States Army on February 3, 1942, serving his country during World War II. He was honorably discharged on October 4, 1945 and returned to Morris. Ken and Helen purchased a farm North of Alberta, Minnesota, where they farmed until 1961; when Ken purchased a semi and began trucking. Due to an accident, Ken got out of the trucking business and returned to agriculture, working for area farmers. On January 10, 1975, he married Esther Achterberg. The couple lived in Morris and Donnelly. Esther died in 2012. In August of 2012, Ken became a resident at the Fergus Falls Veterans Home.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and V.F.W. and was a past Post Commander of the Morris V.F.W. Ken volunteered countless hours driving the V.F.W. van transporting veterans to St. Cloud, Fargo and Minneapolis to appointments. He was a member of the Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and will always be remembered for his tomatoes.
Ken died on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was 94 years old.
He is survived by two sons, Gordon (Cheryl) Cline, Montesano, WA and Earl Cline, Morris, MN; one daughter, Barbara (Arden) Kvam, Shakopee, MN; one brother, Dale (Carol Lee) Cline, Cherokee, IA; four sisters, Norma Dean Stanfill, Indiana, Dorothy (Junior) Bierman and Helen (Jim) Bartlett, all of Cherokee, IA and Glenda Kay Heithus, Paullina, IA; twenty grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his wife Esther, three sons, Bruce, Kenneth Jr., and Anthony and six siblings, Clarence, Ray, Bob, Lloyd, Don and Deloris.
