Kenneth Van Horn

A memorial service for Kenneth Rex Van Horn will be held on May 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Morris, Minnesota with Reverend Emmy Swedlund officiating. A visitation will be held on May 31, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Burial will take place at Summit Cemetery in Morris, Minnesota after the memorial service on Friday.

Kenneth Rex Van Horn was born February 12, 1927, in Swan Lake Township, Minnesota to Rex and Rose (Woodke) Van Horn. He was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Swan Lake Township. He attended District School 33 through the 8^th grade, West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, and graduated in 1944. After that he farmed with his dad. Kenneth went into the service in 1953, was honorably discharged in 1955, and went back to the farm. He married Irene Schliep on January 9, 1960, and together they formed the Van Horn Homestead. They retired to Morris in 1992, when their son Mark and his wife Karen took over the farm. After this he had more time for fishing, hunting, gardening, car and bus trips, deer hunting up north, fishing, and elk hunting trips to Montana.  He was on District 33 school board, Federal Land Bank Board, the church council, helped build Faith Lutheran Church, was a member of the American Legion, and the Eagles Club.

Kenneth died on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Legacy Assisted Living in Morris, Minnesota. He was 97 years old.

Kenneth is survived by his wife: Irene Van Horn of Morris; son: Mark (Karen) Van Horn of Donnelly; two granddaughters: Kaitlin (Dustin) Klever, and Melanie (Jesse) Disselkamp; two great granddaughters: Ivy Klever, and Stevie Disselkamp; sister: Shirley Gades of Morris; brother : Gary Van Horn of FL; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: Rex and Rose Van Horn; and brothers-in-law: Eric Allen, and Ronald Gades.
