Memorial services for Kerry Berget of Hancock, MN will be Monday, April 10, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hancock, MN, with Reverend Bruce Hanneman will be officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 at the church on Monday.
Kerry Orville Berget, son of Orville and Marjorie (Toop) Berget, was born March 30, 1956 in Morris, Minnesota. He was raised in Hancock, where he was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. Kerry attended and graduated from Hancock High School in 1974. Following his graduation, he began working at Hancock Concrete. It was a 45 year career that began as a laborer and worked many roles throughout his career. In 1985, Kerry was blessed with a son, Kameron. On January 11, 2002, Kerry was united in marriage to Stephanie Zeltwanger in Las Vegas, NV. Their marriage was blessed with one son, Kody in 2003. The couple made their home in Hancock. In November, 2016, Kerry was diagnosed with cancer for the 2nd time. Kerry remained in Hancock until March 23, 2017, when he entered West Wind Village in Morris.
Kerry was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hancock. He was also on numerous dart and pool leagues. When Kam was young, Kerry helped coach the Hancock Orphan's Baseball Team and Kam's basketball team. He enjoyed watching television, especially Jeopardy, Days of Our Lives, Who Wants to be a Millionaire and the Minnesota Vikings on Sundays. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and the Berget family gatherings were a sweet spot.
Kerry died on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at West Wind Village in Morris. He lived to 61 years.
He is survived by his wife: Stephanie Berget of Hancock; his children: Kameron (Melissa) Berget of Cologne and Kody Berget of Hancock; four grandchildren: Addison, Kenley, Harrison and baby boy in August; mother: Marjorie Berget of Hancock; one brother: Kyle (Karen) Berget of Morris; four sisters: Ramona (Dean) Rohloff of Hancock, Dorinda (Marty) Thielke of Holloway, Chrysta (Tom) Wente of Holloway and Tawnia (John) Jepma of Hancock and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Orville.
