Kris Eric Christensen, son of Knute and Rosalie (Stein) Christensen, was born July 29, 1973 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He grew up in Morris, where he was baptized and confirmed at Assumption Catholic Church. He attended Morris Public Schools, graduating from Morris High School in 1991. Kris continued his education at the Fergus Falls Community College, graduating in 1994 with an Associate in Arts Degree. He went on to attend Moorhead State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1996. Kris lived on his grandparents farm site, where he loved working on cars and sound systems with his nephew, Justin. Kris and his dad were always working on projects together and he had a deep respect for his mother and father, always addressing his mom as “mother” and his dad as “pops”. Kris worked at Jerry’s U-Save and CMS in Morris before going to work on the Canadian Pacific Railroad.
Kris was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. He enjoyed hunting and all types of fishing; he was a nature lover and loved to be outdoors enjoying God’s beautiful countryside with his faithful dog, Britt. He loved his sister’s homemade goodies and spending holidays and birthdays with his family. Kris had a beautiful smile and the most contagious laugh and it just made you laugh right along with him.
Kris died on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 36 years.
He is survived by his parents: Knute and Rosy Christensen of Morris; one sister: Karen (Richard) Johnson of Donnelly; one nephew: Justin Kratz of Morris; two nieces: Kristina Johnson of Donnelly and Kalley Johnson of Donnelly and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by: infant sister: Mary and paternal grandparents: Dan and Magdalene Christensen and maternal grandparents: George and Edith Stein.
Pallbearers for the service are: Kelly Hanrahan, Jeff Moser, Jon Stein, Justin Kratz, Jeff Severance and Charlie Oachs. Honorary pallbearers are all who call him friend. Darlene Hennen will serve as pianist with Holly Giese serving as song leader and Ken Hodgson serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
