Funeral services for Laura Beyer of Morris will be held Friday, January 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Dell Sanderson will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.

Laura Ida Louisa (Melchert) Beyer was born January 7, 1915 to Herman and Sophie (Wente) Melchert in Fairfield Township, Swift County, Minnesota. Laura was raised in Swift County and was baptized January 22, 1915 by the Reverend R. E. Pasche; she was confirmed March 26, 1929 by the Reverend C. W. Ristow at Zion Lutheran Church in Horton Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. On February 7, 1934, she was united in marriage to Elmer F. Beyer at Zion Lutheran Church in Horton Township in Stevens County. After their marriage, they lived on a farm near Holloway, MN, before moving to their farm in Framnes Township in Stevens County. She continued to live on the farm until a few years after the death of Elmer on July 28, 1980. She then bought a home in Morris, where she continued to live until moving to an apartment in Morris, where she lived until September, 2005, when she fell and broke her hip. With declining health, she moved to the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, MN, until the time of her death.

Laura always had a large garden. She did lots of cooking and baking breads, cakes, carmel rolls and doughnuts for their large family. After the children were grown, she made many beautiful quilts. She loved watching the Minnesota Twins.

Laura died on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 95 years.

She is survived by: 11 children: Arvid Beyer (special friend: Glenda Nelson) of Alexandria, Earl (Evie) Beyer of Morris, Dale Beyer of Donnelly, Milton (Audree) Beyer of Emily, Eilert (Dorraine) Beyer of Cyrus, Chrystille (Rolly) Schinzel of Anoka, Gladwin (Pam) Beyer of Hoffman, Arlene (Don) Farver of Maple Grove, Lynette (Jim) Fermoyle of Morris, Bruce (Vicki) Beyer of Donnelly and Diane Beyer (special friend: Dean Gluntz) of Buffalo; 37 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Esther Pasche of Morris; one brother: Lloyd (Arlene) Melchert of Morris and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Elmer; her parents: Herman and Sophie Melchert; three brothers: Clarence, Alvin and Herb Melchert; one sister: Frieda Thielke; daughter-in-law: Joyce Beyer and grandson: Boyd Beyer.

Pallbearers for the service are LauraA�A�A½s grandsons: John Beyer, Mark Beyer, Tim Beyer, Kevin Beyer, Duane Beyer and Mike Schinzel. Honorary pallbearers are LauraA�A�A½s children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Rita Lambert will serve as organist for the service with Jonna Beyer and Jere Solvie serving as soloists. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
