LaVaughn Eugene Thielke, son of Carl and Esther (Platow) Thielke was born on April 29, 1933 in Fairfield Township in Swift County, Minnesota. The family moved to the Clontarf area, where LaVaughn grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Benson High School in 1951. LaVaughn was united in marriage to Eyvonne Razink on March 2, 1954 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hancock. The couple made their home in Hancock. LaVaughn drove truck for Hancock Concrete for 11 years and then for Swens Trucking for another 11 years. LaVaughn then purchased the trucking company. After 19 years of driving and operating the business, he sold the company and retired. LaVaughn was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hancock. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but above all he loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren.
LaVaughn died on Friday, August 24, 2007 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 74 years.
He is survived by his wife: Eyvonne of Hancock; sons: Harlow (Cathy) Thielke of Chaska, MN, Rick (Cindy) Thielke of Hancock, Todd (Mindy)Thielke of Clinton, and Jon (Karen) Thielke of Hancock; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers: Virgil (Iola) Thielke of Benson, Delroy (Jane) Thielke of Clontarf; sister: Shelda Stiel of Benson; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. LaVaughn was preceded in death by his parents: Carl and Esther, and a brother-in-law: Charles Steil.
Pallbearers for the service are: Bill Rezink, Ted Rezink, James Razink, Jeff Thielke, David Steil, Carl Edmonds, Mike Steil, and Robert Razink. Honorary pallbearers are Lyle Swensen, Bill Meyers, Duke Greiner, Gary Greiner, Don Greiner, Don Joos, Dave Joos, Craig Swensen, Steve Swensen, Stan Erdman and Edgar Shaw. Serving as organist will be Phyllis Joos. Pedersen Funeral Home of Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
