The funeral for Lawrence "Larry" Kill, of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Federated Church in Morris, with Reverend Jon Schultz officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Pedersen Funeral Home and on Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at the Summit Cemetery, Morris.
Lawrence Michael Kill, son of Michael and Levina (Hickman) Kill was born on January 18, 1927 in Stevens County, Minnesota. He attended country school, before working on his uncle's farm near Morris. He entered the United States Army in 1951, serving his country during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged in 1953, Larry returned to the Morris area. He was united in marriage to Vera Crissey on May 22, 1954 at the Federated Church in Morris. Larry began a lifetime career in carpentry, working for Hilla Construction of Donnelly and John Nagel Construction of Morris. In 1971, he started Larry Kill Construction, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1990. The couple continued to make Morris their home in retirement.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading western novels. He was known for his ability to repair and build firearms; and his love for these areas he shared with his sons and grandchildren.
Larry died on Monday, July 18, 2016 at the Fergus Falls Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was 89 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Vera, and two sons: Douglas (Peggy) Kill and Gerald (Sandy) Kill, all of Morris, MN; four grandchildren: Kadee (Josh) Rieland, Sauk Centre, MN, Amanda (Steve) Blume, Herman, MN, Cody Kill, Grand Forks, ND and Mitchell Kill, Morris, MN; seven great-grandchildren: Jenna Kill, Avery Rieland, Emily Rieland, Tucker Blume, Jacob Blume, Chase Blume and Vienna Franey; two sisters: Loretta Ritter, Morris, MN and Judy Lubenow, Alberta, MN; three brothers: Michael Kill, Taylors, SC, James Kill, Rushmore, MN and Donald (Janelle) Kill, Alberta, MN; three sisters-in-law: Betty Kill, AZ, Rosa Kill, Morris, MN and Linda Merkel, Hutchinson, MN; one brother-in-law, Howard (Marge) Crissey, Lincoln, ND and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, one great-grandchild, McKinley Blume, three brothers, Richard, Eugene and Kenneth Kill, one brother-in-law, Richard Lubenow and two sisters-in-law, Marie Kill and Georgia Kill.
The family prefers memorials be given to The Salvation Army.
