Leonard Minners died on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Hometown Senior Living Center in Woodbury, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 89 years.
Funeral services for Leonard Minners, formerly of Morris, MN will be held Monday, April 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. Rev. Carlton Anderson and Rev. Gary Brooks will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. There will be a prayer service at 5:30 p.m on Sunday at the Pedersen Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Holden Cemetery near Beardsley, Minnesota.
Leonard Emil Minners, son of John Gustav and Anna (Baerwaldt) Minners, was born May 25, 1923 on a farm, south of Beardsley, Minnesota. Leonard was baptized into the Lutheran Faith at the William Martins farm home and confirmed in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Beardsley. He graduated from Beardsley High School in 1941. Following his schooling, Leonard began farming with his dad on the family farm. Leonard fell in love with Avis Jeanette Herberg and they were married on June 16, 1945. To this union three children were born; Anita, David and Jon Scott. In 1969, he began farming with his son, David and they continued to farm until 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Avis Minners of Woodbury, formerly Morris; daughter, Anita (Gary) Kopitzke of Sleepy Eye; sons, David (Dorothy) Minners of Morris and Jon Scott (Coriene) Case-Minners of Hudson, WI; four grandchildren, Christian Kopitzke, Kimberly Kopitzke, Troy (Beth) Minners and Jamey (Holly) Minners; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Allison, Kayla and Jase Minners and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Elsie (Ed) Anderson, Esther (Archie) Eastman and Leona (Otto) Tober.
Pallbearers for the service are Dennis Eastman, Wayne Eastman, Darrell Tober, Tom Herberg, Wesley Herberg and Rick Martens.
