Funeral services for Lester Felt of Starbuck, MN will be held Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Reverend Sarah Taylor will be officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Lester Manford Felt, son of Oscar and Mabel (Thorstad) Felt, was born May 1, 1922 in Starbuck, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school. On June 28, 1969, he was united in marriage to Viola Nyhusmoen at Our Redeemera�(TM)s Lutheran Church in Benson, MN by Reverend Quello. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Starbuck. For a number of years, Lester worked as a mechanic at John Deere in Morris, until he opened a mechanic shop in Starbuck.
Lester was a member of Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck, where he and Vi worked with the Fron youth. Lester was also a senior companion in Starbuck and Glenwood for many years. He was also a member of the Starbuck Lions, the Starbuck Chamber of Commerce and served for over 20 years as a volunteer on the Starbuck Fire Department. Lester was a devoted bell ringer for the Salvation Army for many years. Les liked to bake, cook, wood working, fishing, feeding the wildlife in the winter months and feeding the birds all year round. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Lester died on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 89 years.
He is survived by his wife: Viola Felt of Starbuck; two children: Joile (Troy) Kuczek of Starbuck and Mark Felt of Starbuck; two granddaughters: Hannah and Kendra Kuczek both of Starbuck; one sister: Winona Mortenson of Glenwood; two sisters-in-law: Lorinda Felt of Starbuck and Ester Felt of Denver, CO and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Kermit, Oliver and twin infant brothers.
Pallbearers for the service are: Tim DeJong, Scott Langson, Troy Kuczek and Jon Blocker. Shari Opdahl will serve as organist for the service with Wayne Woods serving as soloist.
