Funeral services for Lillian Ehlers of Morris, MN will be held Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Paul Erdal will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:00 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Lillian Cordilia Adeline Maanum, daughter of Thorwold and Inga (Sletten) Maanum, was born March 12, 1908 near Hancock, Minnesota, where she grew up and was baptized and confirmed at West Zion Lutheran Church by Reverend Pederson. Lillian received her schooling in Hancock and Benson High Schools. She continued on at Moorhead State in Moorhead, Minnesota and the University of Minnesota. Following her schooling, she taught at various country schools, before teaching at the Morris Public Schools. On June 20, 1931, she was united in marriage to Gerhard Pederson by Pastor Andrews in the parsonage in Benson, MN. Following their marriage, Lillian continued teaching and raising her children. Gerhard passed away on June 7, 1967. Lillian married John Ehlers on October 20, 1970. She enjoyed doing crafts and spending time with her family and friends.
Lillian died on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 105 years.
She is survived by one daughter: Ann Stein of Aberdeen, SD; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband; her parents; one son: Charles Pederson; one son-in-law: Dale Stein; three sisters: Cora Alsaker, Hazel Pederson and Almira Erickson and one brother: Elmer Maanum.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society.
