Funeral services for Lillian Koehntop of Morris, will be held Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Dell Sanderson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 to 7 pm at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Swan Lake Township.
Lillian Viola Amborn, daughter of Gustav and Sarah Amborn, was born December 3, 1924 at Greenbush, MN. On February 8, 1925, Lillian was baptized into the Lutheran faith in Greenbush. At a young age, Lillian moved with her family to the Alberta, MN area, where she grew up and was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Morris on April 10, 1938. Lillian received her education in Alberta, graduating from the Alberta High School in 1943. On November 8, 1944, she was united in marriage to Edward Koehntop at Peace Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Swan Lake Township, where they farmed and raised their three children. They retired from farming in 1978 and moved into Morris. Edward died on May 24, 2007, and Lillian has continued to live in Morris since that time.
Lillian was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church in Morris, where she was active in the women's group. She enjoyed her involvement with the Morris Senior Citizens Center and the VFW & American Legion Auxiliaries. Some of her hobbies included traveling, dancing, playing cards, cooking, doing embroidery work and being active in the birthday club. Holidays with her family were always special to Lillian, and she cherished any chance she had to be with her grandchildren. She will truly be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Lillian died on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 86 years.
She is survived by three children: Douglas (Edla) Koehntop of Minneapolis, MN, Bruce (Debra) Koehntop of Morris, MN and Jeanne (Paul) Foreman of Germantown, TN; eight grandchildren: Krista Johnson, Kevin (Bethany) Koehntop, Erin Koehntop (special friend, Joe Schmidt), Stacey (Jeremy) Kolden, Robyn Koehntop (fiancé, Justin Schramm), Brandon Koehntop (special friend, Andrea Singleton), Justin Foreman and Courtney Foreman; five great-grandchildren: Cole & Lauren Johnson, Thea & Jacob Kolden and Amy Schramm; one brother: David (Barb) Jenson of Thompson, ND and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a grandson, Jonathan Foreman; three brothers: Harry, Luverne and Lloyd Amborn and one sister, Dorothy Schroeder.
Pallbearers for the service are: Brandon Koehntop, Kevin Koehntop, Justin Foreman, Randy Koehntop, Jeremy Kolden and Gary Thorstad. Rita Lambert will serve as pianist for the service.
