Funeral service for Lillie Luthi of Morris, MN will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, rural Morris. The Apostolic Christian Church Ministers will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Lillie Susan Hohulin, daughter of Joseph and Susan (Wenger) Hohulin, was born October 20, 1908 near Fairbury, Illinois. At the age of six months, she moved with her family to the Morris, Minnesota area, where she grew up and received her schooling. At the age of 22, Lillie moved to Peoria, Illinois, where she did housework for five years before taking a job at the Apostolic Christian Nursing Home, where she worked for the next 30 years. On March 17, 1965, she was united in marriage to William Luthi in Peoria, Illinois. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Morris. William died on January 13, 1981, and Lillie has continued to live in Morris since that time.
Lillie was a long-time member of the Apostolic Christian Church near Morris. She was known for her beautiful tatting and even tatted an entire American Flag at one time. Lillie will be remembered as a wonderful and loving wife, step-mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her entire family.
Lillie died on January 1, 2013 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN. She lived to reach the age of 104 years.
She is survived by two step-sons: Raymond (Violet) Luthi of Jasper, MO and Reuben (Chrystol) Luthi of Morris; three step-daughters: Violet Wulf of Morris, Wilma (Clyde) Kuntz of Gridley, IL and Lillian (Howard) Mogler of Alvord, IA; one step-daughter-in-law: Della Luthi of Morris; 46 grandchildren; 182 great-grandchildren; 115 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers: Elmer and Edward Hohulin; six sisters: Lydia Rinkenberger, Anna McDowel, Lena Hohulin, Leah Hohulin, Eulala Moore and Viola Hohulin; three step-sons: Albert (Myrtle) Luthi, Harold (Bernice) Luthi and Donald Luthi; one step-son-in-law: Leonard Wulf; one step-daughter-in-law: Marilyn Luthi; two grandchildren: Jeffrey Luthi and Valerie Luthi; one great-grandchild: Terry Wulf and one great-great-grandchild: Jackson Grimm.
Serving as pallbearers for the service are: Aldean Luthi, Daniel Luthi, Lawrence Luthi, Dennis Wulf, Richard Kuntz, Daniel R. Luthi, Bradley Luthi and Rodney Mogler. The Apostolic Christian Church Choir will provide music for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
