Linda Yackley

The funeral for Linda Schmidgall Yackley will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church near Morris, with the Apostolic Christian Ministers officiating. Visitation will be at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, near Morris.

Linda Schmidgall, daughter of John and Lizzie (Metzger) Schmidgall was born on December 29, 1920 at Hancock, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended school. After her schooling, she did housework for local families. Linda was a telephone operator at the Hancock Telephone Company and later at Northwestern Bell Telephone in Morris. She was united in marriage to Fred Messner on July 29, 1962 at the Apostolic Christian Church near Morris. The couple made their home in Winthrop, Minnesota where they ran the family farm. Fred died on January 22, 1975. Linda returned to the Hancock area. She was married to Clarence Yackley of Arizona on August 17, 1980 at the Apostolic Christian Church, Morris. Linda moved to Arizona with her husband Clarence, where they lived and he served as an Apostolic Christian Church Minister. Clarence died on March 17, 1995. Linda continued to live in Arizona until 2008, when she moved to Morris, making her home at the Skyview Plaza. In March of 2010, she became a resident at the West Wind Village in Morris.

Linda died on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris. She was 93 years old.

She is survived by her siblings: Josephine Esterling, Morris, Kenneth Schmidgall, Paradise Valley, AZ, Floyd Schmidgall, Morris, Barbara (Vernard) Brown, Morris, Nola (Mel) Schrock, Normal, IL, Norene (Carl) Moser, Morris, Marion Schmidgall, Hancock and Marilyn (Ed) Lanz, Ellington, CT; step-children: Donnabell Nelson, Winthrop, Marcelle (Ernie) Dapper, Hutchinson, Bill (Marilyn) Messner, Gibbon, Barb (Pat) Mattes, Hutchinson, Aldo (Joyce) Yackley, Glendale, AZ, Eileen (Tony) Funk, Garden Grove, IA and Ramona (Harold) Wenninger, Cottonwood, AZ; one step-daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Messner, Winthrop, MN; 37 step-grandchildren, 82 step-great-grandchildren, 36 step-great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by two husbands, her parents, four brothers, Ray, Benjamin, William and George, three sisters, Laura, Kathryn and Clara, one brother-in-law, Donald Esterling, two sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Schmidgall and Vila Schmidgall and one step-son, Dennis Messner.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
