Lloyd Raymond Hagen, son of Severt and Lydia (Tobeck) Hagen, was born July 23, 1920 in Artichoke Township in Big Stone County, Minnesota. He was baptized on August 22, 1920 by Reverend Waechter in Artichoke Township and confirmed on July 22, 1934 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Synnes Township by Reverend Ristow. Lloyd grew up in Stevens Township near Chokio, where he attended School District #48. Following his schooling, Lloyd worked as a hired man for three years for Bill Sparks. In the fall of 1943, Lloyd and his brother, Wally began farming together in Moonshine Township in Big Stone County until 1959, when Lloyd began farming in Baker Township with his brother-in-law, Herb Jacobson. In 1982, he retired and moved to Morris, where he has continued live until the time of his death.
Lloyd was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alberta and the Eagles Club in Morris. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Minnesota Twins, hunting and handiwork.
Lloyd died on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 88 years.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings: Mabel Baumgartner, Lillian Olson, Alice Jacobson, Wallace Hagen, Orville Hagen, Donald Hagen and LaRayne Royal.
Pallbearers for the service are Lloyd’s nephews: Dennis Hagen, Daryl Hagen, Bill Hagen, Gary Jacobson, Curtis Jacobson and Ron Jacobson. Honorary pallbearers are Lloyd’s nieces: Arlene Carbert, Audrey Opheim, Vicky Cercley, LeAnn Schultz, Cheryl Bobinson, Shelley Jacobson and the nursing staff at the Belgrade Nursing Home in Belgrade, MN. Karen Stahn will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
