Funeral services for Lloyd Plocker of Morris will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Dell Sanderson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Kongsvinger Lutheran Cemetery near Donnelly. Military rites will be provided by the Morris American Legion, VFW and AmVets.
Lloyd Melvin Plocker, son of Glen and Clara (Nelson) Plocker, was born May 21, 1930 in Morris, Minnesota, where he was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. Lloyd grew up on a farm North of Alberta and attended Alberta High School. Lloyd enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served in WWII and the Korean War. On June 16, 1951, he was united in marriage to June Henrichs in the parsonage at First Lutheran Church in Morris. The couple lived in Morris, where Lloyd worked various jobs over the years. For the last 20 plus years of his employment he worked for the Stevens County Highway Department.
Lloyd was a lifetime member of the Morris American Legion, VFW and Eagle's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and was a dedicated Minnesota Twins fan. Lloyd loved riding around Morris on his electric wheel chair. He especially loved being with his family, friends, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Lloyd died on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 83 years.
He is survived by three children: Betty (Roger) Werk of Herman, Donald (Doreen) Plocker of Morris and Michael Plocker (Kim Johnson) of Morris; eight grandchildren: Steven, Jeffrey, Duane, Cindy, Bonnie, David, Valerie and Alex and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers: Ralph and Melvin and one sister: Irene.
