Lois Brown

Lois Jeannette Pedersen, daughter of Peter Chris and Lula Anna (Smith) Pedersen, was born February 5, 1920, on a farm near Carroll, NE in Wayne County. At the age of five years, the family moved to a farm near Bristol, IN. In November, 1926, they returned to Wayne County, NE, where Lois began her schooling. In 1932, the family moved to a farm near Morris, MN, where Lois attended grades 6 - 10 in the Morris Schools. She later completed her education at the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris. On July 9, 1943, she was united in marriage to Kenneth "Buck" Brown in Chokio. The couple moved to El Paso, Texas until Buck was sent overseas and Lois then returned to Minnesota. After Buck's discharge from the service, the couple lived on the Mildred and Eli Nohl farm, until moving to their own farm in 1953. They lived and farmed there until Buck's death on June 3, 2000. Lois continued to live on the farm until April, 2004, when she moved to Grandview Apartments in Morris, where she has continued to live until the time of her death.



Lois was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alberta, where she was active on the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, visiting with family and attending family gatherings.



Lois died on Monday, June 26, 2006, at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, having lived to reach the age of 86 years.



She is survived by: one son: Robert Brown of Alberta; two daughters: Nancy (John) Helsper of Hancock and Sally Larson of Alberta; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one sister: Marjorie Leraas of Willmar. She was preceded in death by her husband; one infant daughter: Patricia Ann Brown; her parents; one brother: Eugene Pedersen and two sisters: Marietta Dahl and Elizabeth Pedersen.



Pallbearers for the service are Lois's grandchildren: Jason Brown, Jordan Bohm, Christina Larson, Ramsay Bohm, Nicholas Mooney and Shae Lynn Brown. Karen Stahn will serve as organist for the service with the Trinity Lutheran Choir providing special music. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
