Memorial services for Lois Smith of Morris will be held Friday, December 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Pastoral Intern Chris Richards and Reverend Donald Berheim will be officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Visitation will resume one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Chokio Lutheran Cemetery near Chokio.

Lois Caroline Roberts, daughter of Clyde and Edith (Clark) Roberts was born August 27, 1917 in Alberta, Minnesota. She grew up and received her schooling in Alberta, graduating from Alberta High School in 1935. Lois continued her education at the West Central School of Agriculture for one year before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Smith on October 4, 1941 in Yuma, Arizona. To this union one daughter was born, Geraldine. Following their marriage Lois and Lloyd moved to California and eventually returned to Minnesota making Morris their home. Lois held many jobs over the years including waitressing, working as a telephone operator, and as a dental assistant for Dr. Jorgenson. She also represented the Welcome Wagon for 20 years, welcoming newcomers to the area, newborns, and university students. Along with Lois' many talents was her recipe column in the Morris Sun Tribune called "Lois" Line, which appeared from 1991-2006.

Lois was an active member at First Lutheran Church and the GOP party. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, gardening, cooking, and was an avid outdoors woman.

Lois died on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at West Wind Village in Morris. She was 97 years old.

She is survived by her daughter: Geraldine Haydon of Kenner, LA; grandson: Michael (Susan) Haydon of Rochester; two great-grandchildren: Maxwell and Esmè Haydon of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five brothers and one sister.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
