Lola Mae Lange, daughter of Rolland and Cora (Wilson) Lange, was born November 29, 1927 in Everglade Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. Lola grew up in Stevens County, where she began her education in a country school while the family lived in the Donnelly area. They later lived in the Alberta area, where Lola continued her schooling, graduating from Alberta High School in 1947. After her graduation, she lived in Morris, where she worked at Cy's Coffee Cup. On January 9, 1951, she was united in marriage to DeWayne Michaelson at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Following their marriage, the couple lived for 18 months in Camp Rucker, Alabama before returning to Morris. They have remained in Morris since that time, where they raised their four children: Gary, Timothy, Julia and Joy. In 1965, DeWayne and Lola began their own business, Michaelson's Tree Service, which they have continued to run together since that time. Lola was the bookkeeper for the business, but she was also willing to help out on the job anytime DeWayne needed her. Lola and DeWayne have always been a great team, but not only with their business. In their younger years, the two of them loved to go roller skating at Perkin's Pavilion, and they even enjoyed dancing on roller skates. In more recent years, the roller skates were retired, but they still loved dancing together whenever they had the opportunity.
Lola enjoyed the constant search for the next piece to add to her bell collection, as well as her collection of cups & saucers. She also loved to spend time trying her luck at both the bingo stand and the slot machines. More than anything else, Lola loved to be surrounded by her family members, who give her the credit for being the glue that has held them all together, especially during the painful times of losing her son, Gary and great-grandson, James.
Lola's reunion with Gary and James began on Saturday, August 18, 2007, when she died at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 79 years.
