Loren Hauglie

Loren Joel Hauglie, son of Clayton and Carolyn (Carlsen) Hauglie, was born April 4, 1954 in Alexandria , Minnesota . Loren grew up in Elbow Lake , Minnesota , where he attended and graduated from High School. Following his schooling, he began working for Blacktop Specialties in Cyrus. On September 7, 1974, he was united in marriage to Jackie Lien. The couple made their home in Cyrus, where they raised their children and Loren worked for CMI Concrete. He later went to work for the Pope County Highway Department. Because of his health, Loren was forced to take a medical retirement. Even during his illness, Loren always kept his sense of humor

Loren enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cards, playing pool and reading. Loren loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He had a great appreciation for good friends.

Loren died on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood , MN , having lived to reach the age of 55 years.

He is survived by his wife: Jackie Hauglie of Starbuck; three children: Charity Hauglie of St. Michael, Cory Hauglie (his fiancée: Cathleen Carlson) of Wheaton and Cassie Hauglie of Glenwood; five grandchildren: Anthony, Colton, Damon, Quinton and Sawyer; his parents: Clayton and Carolyn Hauglie of Elbow Lake; one brother: Mark Hauglie of Kensington and one sister: Kari (Bill) LaValley of Elbow Lake and niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one nephew: Bradley John.

Honorary pallbearers for the service are: Mark Hauglie, Jerry Carlsen, Warren Rollie, Davis Larsen, Keith Michelson, Tom Frikken and David Boots. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
