Loretta Asmus

Funeral services for Loretta Asmus of Morris will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Todd Schneider will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Morris.

Loretta Mary Heintzelman, daughter of Michael and Lena (Fuchs) Heintzelman was born July 30, 1922 on a farm south of Morris where she grew up and received her schooling. She was baptized and confirmed at Assumption Church in Morris. On July 25, 1943 she was united in marriage to Delroy Asmus at the Assumption Church in Morris. To this union two children were born, Judy and Keith. The couple farmed 4 years north of Chokio and in December of 1950, they moved to a farm in Framnas Township where they continued to live for 64 years.

Loretta was a member of the Guild for many years, Christian Mothers, and the V.F. W. Auxiliary. She worked at Pamida for 12 years. She liked to quilt, embroider, crochet, and garden. She also liked to travel and went on many bus trips. She especially enjoyed the trips to Montana to see their special friends, Darrell and Dorothy Wetz.

Loretta died on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at West Wind Village in Morris surrounded by her family. She lived to reach the age of 92 years.

She is survived by her husband: Delroy Asmus of Morris; two children: Judy (Ed) Jobe of Lake Crystal and Keith (Lynn) Asmus of Morris; seven grandchildren: Fay (Richard) Vandenbrook, Dale (Debi) Fladung, Scott (Rene') Fladung, Mary Jo Marasco, Angela (Eric) Joos, Reina Asmus, Nichole Asmus; 18 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; brother: Lloyd (Helen) Heintzelman of Morris; sisters-in-law: Lila Asmus of St. Cloud and Eileen Asmus of Alexandria; brother-in-law: Norman Asmus of St. Paul; special nephew: Mark (Kendra) Heintzelman of Dallas, TX and many nieces nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law: Carl Marasco; grandson: Kurt Asmus; sister: Luella Rinkenberger and brother: Emil Heintzelman.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
