Lorraine Lerbs

Funeral service for Lorraine Lerbs will be on Monday, August 21, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Donnelly, Minnesota with a visitation one hour prior to the services at the church.  Burial will be at Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria, Minnesota.

Lorraine Alice Lerbs was born on May 23, 1941, in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota to William and Alice (Norman) Lerbs.  She was raised in Carlos, Minnesota where she attended grade school.  Lorraine was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Carlos.  She completed high school with the Alexandria High School, class of 1959.  After high school, she moved to Minneapolis where she complete training as an X-ray/Lab technician.  She took a job in Cavalier, North Dakota working at the local hospital and clinic.  While there, she met Einar Abrahamson, they were married on June 10, 1961.  They made their home in Cavalier where they raised four children.  In 1986, Lorraine moved to Morris, Minnesota and began work as a school bus driver and with home health care.  In 1995, She moved to Donnelly and in 1997, she bought a home where she resided until her death.

Lorraine was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Donnelly; she was an active member of the congregation as well as the community.  Lorraine enjoyed painting, rosemaling, quilting and fishing.  In earlier years, she taught classes on rosemaling, painting and stained glass. She also enjoyed flower gardening and picking rocks for her rock garden. Lorraine especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, their many “Grandma Trips, “spending summers with her in Donnelly and going swimming.  She had a special place in her heart for cats, feeding the stray cats around town as well as her two.

Lorraine died on Wednesday, August 17, 2017 at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, Minnesota; she lived to 76 years.

Lorraine is survived by her children: Allison (Kerry) Fretheim of Harwood, ND, Einar Abrahamson of Minot, ND, Matt (Alli) Abrahamson of Grafton, ND and Amy (Todd) Skjoldal of Moorhead; eight grandchildren: Katie Fretheim, Forrest (Alyssa) Fretheim, Wyatt Fretheim, Seth Fretheim, Tiffany Abrahamson, Matthew Abrahamson, Haakon Skjoldal and Finn Skjoldal; one great-grandchild, Stella; one brother: Norman Lerbs of Osseo; and ex-husband: Einar Abrahamson of Cavalier, ND.  She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, William “Billy” Lerbs; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Lerbs and Berneida Lerbs; and special friend, Gordon Bjugan.

Memorials Preferred to Donnelly First Responders or the Morris Public Library.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
