Funeral services for Lorraine Wade, of Morris, Minnesota, will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Reed Stockman will be officiating and burial will be at Synnes Cemetery, rural Alberta.
Lorraine Meta Reimers, the daughter of Adolph and Viola (Baumgartner) Reimers was born on November 17, 1929 at the Morris Hospital in Morris, Minnesota. She was baptized on December 8, 1929, at Synnes Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of rural Alberta. Lorraine received her education through the 8th grade at District 29 country school and then Alberta High School, graduating in 1948. Following her schooling, Lorraine, received training at the Morris Hospital to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Lorraine was united in marriage to Leo Wade on June 4, 1953, they moved to Riverside, California, where Leo was called to serve his country; Lorraine was employed at the Riverside General Hospital. They moved back to Minnesota in 1955 and Lorraine went back to the Morris Hospital and worked there until her retirement in 1999.
Lorraine was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morris, serving in various functions of the church. She served on the board of West Central Homes for two terms, as a director of Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, and was also a member of the Parish Nurse Human Care Committee.
Lorraine enjoyed sewing and quilting and making crafts. Growing up in a musical family, music was important to her and she played piano and organ and sang in the church choir. Lorraine spent summers at the lake or at home doing yard work, and in the winters, she vacationed with her sister and her family. Although Leo and Lorraine didn’t have children of their own, she was very close with her siblings, and her nieces and nephews looked to Lorraine as a second mother.
Lorraine died peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at her home at West Wind Village in Morris, she was 94 years old.
Lorraine is survived by her sisters: Dorothy Reimers Maus and Darlene Reimers Haak; sisters-in-law: Carol Wade and Dorothy Wade; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her parents: Adolph and Viola Reimers; brother, Elwin Reimers; sisters: Esther Reimers Vought, Ella Reimers Vought, Lorna Reimers Byers; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Maus Reimers, and Shirley Wade; brothers-in-law: Richard Vought, Charles Vought, Grady Byers, Clifford Maus, Robert Haak, Dick Wade, Don Wade, and Bernard Wade.
Memorials are preferred to the Dakota Boys Ranch or Synnes Cemetery.
