The memorial service for Lowell G. Christians, of Herman, Minnesota will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Herman High School in Herman, with Reverend Lloyd Heroff officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Herman High School in Herman. Burial will be at the Lakeside Cemetery, Herman.
Lowell G. Christians, son of Lloyd and Florence (Klaassen) Christians was born on September 19, 1950 at Sibley, Iowa. At the age of 5, Lowell moved with his family to the Herman, Minnesota area, where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from Herman High School in 1968, and entered the U.S. Navy, serving his country during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he returned to the Herman area. Lowell was united in marriage to Barbara Graf on January 3, 1970. The couple made their home in Herman, where Lowell worked as a carpenter. In the late 1970's, he began working for Midland Co-op which is now New Horizons Ag. Services. After working his way up through the company, he finished his career in his present position as agronomy operations manager. A major highlight of his career was his integral part in the vision and completion of the New Horizons Ag. Services Mega Plant in Herman.
Lowell enjoyed woodworking and doing projects with his sons and brother, Terry. He loved his job and the people that he worked with. His greatest joys were his granddaughters and spending time with family and friends. Lowell had an impact on everyone he met and his final impact on others was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
Lowell died on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, Minnesota. He was 61 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, Herman; two sons, Stephen (Kari) Christians, Long Prairie, and David (Tina) Christians, Sartell; his mother, Florence Christians, Herman; two brothers, Terry (Robin) Christians, Herman, and Scott (Patsy) Christians, Morris; one sister, Brenda (Jeff) Volker, Morris; and three grandchildren, Ashlyn, Sira and Olivia. Lowell was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
