Lucille Scribner

Lucille Gertrude Cook, daughter of Perry and Celina (Disselbret) Cook, was born March 21, 1926 in Rendsville Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. She attended Chokio and Alberta area schools. On January 19, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ernest Scribner in Staples, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm near Morris for eight years and then moved into Morris. Lucille worked as a cook at the Del Monico Cafe and other restaurants in Morris. From August, 1978 until she retired in April, 1991, Lucille was a cook at the Villa of St. Francis in Morris. Ernest died on May 15, 1989. Lucille became a resident of West Wind Village in Morris in February, 1996, where she continued to live until the time of her death.

Lucille was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. She enjoyed counted cross-stitch, other sewing projects, reading, gardening and cooking. As a nursing home resident she was known for the many fleece snowmen she sewed and sold.

Lucille died on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 84 years.

She is survived by one son: Robert (Laurel) Scribner of Bena; one grandson: Chris (Sarah) Scribner of Monticello; two great-granddaughters: Jordyn Scribner of Monticello and Katelyn Scribner of Monticello; special nephew: Eugene Scribner of Morris and two brothers: Donald Cook of Dallas, TX and Larry Cook of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law: Loa Scribner and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister: Angeline Novak and one brother: Jerry Cook.

Pallbearers for the service are: Chris Scribner, Eugene Scribner, Gordie Scribner, Sally Iverson, Tom Dahl and Monroe Estenson. Jenny Mecklenburg will serve as pianist for the service with Sheryle Dahl serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
