Luke Monson

July 1, 1976 — May 31, 2010

Luke Charles Monson, son of Dean and Jan (DeBuhr) Monson, was born July 1, 1976 in Morris , Minnesota . He was baptized on August 21, 1976 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chokio by Father Michael Marx. He was also confirmed at St. Mary’s on November 1, 1992 by Bishop John Kinney. Luke grew up in Chokio and received his education at the Chokio-Alberta School , graduating from high school in 1994. While he was growing up, Luke loved two things: cars and football. He could always be found working on cars or watching races, and he was fortunate enough to have been a vital member of two State Championship Football Teams with Chokio-Alberta. After high school, Luke went on to college, graduating from the University of Minnesota Crookston in 1998 with a degree in Hotel Restaurant Management.

After graduation, Luke began working for the Diamond Supper Club in Morris, where he remained for a couple years. He then joined his family in the Monson Truck Line Business in Chokio, where he has worked since that time and was currently serving as general manager of operations. He will certainly be remembered for his wonderful attention to detail and his drive to make sure that he always did the job the right way. Luke was his happiest when he was working in the truck shop applying the many skills he had learned from his grandpa. Your greatest remembrance of Luke will be his heart-warming smile and his ability to make you laugh.

Luke died on Monday, May 31, 2010 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He had lived to reach the age of 33 years.

He is survived by his parents: Dean and Jan Monson of Chokio; one sister: Sadie Monson of Casper , WY ; aunts and uncles: Darcy and Shirley Monson of Monticello, Les and Kathy DeBuhr of Chokio, Mike and Joyce Busch of Plymouth and Arlene Larson of Eagan ; special friends and Mentor : John and Sandy Finke of Chokio and several cousins.
