Funeral services for Lynn Engquist of Hancock will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Herman. Visitation will be Friday, June 28, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and a time of sharing after the prayer service at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Herman.

Lynn Dwaine Engquist, son of Wallace and Donna (Nagl) Engquist was born May 25, 1961 in Morris, MN. He was number six in their family of eight children. He grew up in Herman, MN attending school in Barrett and graduating from Morris High School in 1981.

Lynn married Shynia Mitchell on June 11, 2021. At that time, they lived and worked in Austin, MN returning to live in Hancock, MN in 2023.

Lynn was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was also a member of Harmony Lodge 230 Independent Order of Oddfellows in Herman. Growing up he was a member of Boy Scouts.

Lynn liked to work and was a hard worker, always willing to help others. It didn’t matter what the job was, throwing hay bales or getting dirty, he would do it. He held many jobs and took great pride in his lawn mowing service. His current job was washing dishes at Prime Steakhouse in Morris.

Lynn had a big heart and was always on the go. He loved fairs, especially the Minnesota State Fair. He was independent, determined, caring, and kind. He loved to have fun and was a performer, especially around a bonfire with family or friends and his harmonica playing, singing and dancing. He gave himself the name of Lynnyrd Skynyrd and would show up (most of the time unexpectedly) at family events and fishing trips on Rainy Lake. He enjoyed hunting, tearing apart and fixing things (he could duct tape anything), lawn mower demolition derbies, and attending local high school wrestling matches. He was a swimmer growing up and was very proud of the ribbons and medals he won in Special Olympic events.

Lynn passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 25, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife, Shynia of Hancock; two beautiful daughters: Issabille Kroeger of Alexandria, and Deilieh; sisters: Jean Kieley of Grafton, ND, Susan (Steve) Kvamme of West Fargo, ND, Lana Engquist of Englewood, FL, Jan (Brett) Schmidt of Box Elder, SD; brothers: Gerald (Lisa) Engquist of Herman, Kurt (Deb) Engquist of West Fargo, ND; brother-in-law: Gary Thomson of McDonald, TN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Donna Engquist; his sister, LouAnn Thomson; and brothers-in-law, Ralph Kieley, and Mike Farris.
