Lynn George Farwell, son of Mark and Agnes (Tomalla) Farwell was born on July 28, 1922 on the family farm in Stevens County, Minnesota. He attended Farwell County School near Alberta. Lynn's father was killed in a horrific car accident in June of 1936. His mother was very sick with Parkinson 's disease and Lynn was left at the age of 14 to take over the family farm and care for his younger siblings. Through the tough times, Lynn learned how not only to care for others but gained his strong work ethic. He would share how very grateful he was for Mr. Schultz the local grocer in Alberta; who without his help the family may have not survived.

Lynn was united in marriage to Ellen Hanson on September 30, 1948 at the Federated Church Parsonage in Morris. The couple made their home on the family farm, where they raised their four children. Lynn not only raised crops but also had a dairy, raised hogs, cattle and chickens. Through the years of farming Lynn also worked for the State Highway Department, drove feed truck and drove school bus for the Chokio-Alberta School. After retiring from farming in 1989, Lynn continued to help out area farmers with spring and fall work. In 2007, He and Ellen sold the farm to their son and moved into Morris. Lynn entered the West Wind Village in Morris in May of 2014.

Lynn was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, old cars and collecting farm toys. He and Ellen travelled throughout most of the United States and spent many winters in Mission, Texas. Lynn was an avid reader of westerns and had collection of Zane Grey books. He will always be remembered as a farmer, but most of all he will be remembered for the love of his family.

Lynn died on Friday, January 23, 2015 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN. He lived to 92 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen, Morris; four children, Raymond (Ann) Farwell, Alberta, Rosemary (Randy) Heitmann, Lake City, SD, Richard Farwell, Chokio and Randall (Sherri) Farwell, Moorhead; one brother, Merle Farwell, Morris; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren
