Lynnette Marie Berger was born on October 5, 1944, in Morris, Minnesota, the second daughter, of Nels and Veronica (Kill) Berger. Lynn was raised on the family farm south of Alberta, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Lynn attended elementary school until the 3rd grade at Alberta Elementary and when the family moved to Morris, she continued elementary school at St. Mary’s Catholic School, and then Morris High School, graduating with the class of 1962. Following high school, Lynn moved to St. Paul and attended nurse’s training at Miller Hospital Vocational School of Practical Nursing, graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1964. She stayed in St. Paul for a short time, working at the VA Hospital, and then moved back to Morris and began her career at Stevens Community Medical Center. Lynn worked most of her life as a night shift nurse, until age 70, when she decided to retire when technology was becoming more and more a part of the job. As a young woman, Lynn was at a dance at the Barrett Lakeside Pavilion when she met Larry Anderson. The two started dating and were married on June 10, 1967, in Morris at Assumption Catholic Church. They made their home in Morris and started their family, welcoming one son and two daughters.
In 1979, Lynnette was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, with young children at home, she underwent four surgeries and 18 months of chemotherapy at the Mayo Hospital in Rochester. The doctors didn’t think that Lynn would survive; however, she overcame and beat cancer and went on to live a full and wonderful life.
Lynn was an active member of Assumption Catholic Church. She and Larry enjoyed playing cards with friends, and being a part of the Breakfast Group at DeToy’s. Lynn did not have a green thumb; plants didn’t survive for more than a week in her home! She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and her loyal dog companions. Most importantly, Lynn cherished the time that she spent with her family.
Lynn died on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Essentia Heath in Fargo, North Dakota. She was 79 years old.
