Mabel Irene Koch, daughter of Oscar and Mathilda (Hegg) Koch, was born July 5, 1914 in Nora Township, Pope County, Minnesota. Mabel grew up in Nora Township, and was baptized and confirmed at Nora Lutheran Church by Reverend Quammen. She attended School District #50 Country School. Following her schooling, Mabel worked in various farm homes throughout Pope and Stevens County. In 1944, she moved to Morris and lived and worked in the home of Lyman and Julie Eidsvold, where she became a very close member of the family. Mabel retired in 1984 and moved in to her own home in Morris. In September 2008, she moved to the Courage Cottage in Morris, where she continued to live until the time of her death.

Mabel was a member of Nora Lutheran Church in her earlier years, and First Lutheran Church after making her home in Morris. She loved the companionship she had from her miniature poodles: Casey, Taffy 1and 2 and Britta as well as her family and friends. She enjoyed being in the community of Morris, and would walk her dog throughout town. Mabel also enjoyed baking, gardening and visiting with people. She will be remembered as a woman who had a very strong faith in God and lived by her favorite Bible verse, 1 Corinthians 13:13 "And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love."

Mabel died on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 98 years.

She is survived by one cousin: Amanda Dohlen of Cyrus; special friends: Jim & Anne Eidsvold of Alexandria; Gary Eidsvold of Morris; Sara, Jon, Samuel and Greta Hendrickson of Duluth; and Philip Eidsvold and Ty Baucum of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Jeanette and Evelyn Koch.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
